Kiboko PROJECTS

The Kiboko workshops provide participants with access to such creative media as photography, mask making, photo diaries, video, and performance, and their stories are made stronger and more effective through the integration of the processes.

The workshops help participants to learn about themselves and from each other through the creative process, and also to organize, document, and speak about themselves, giving a voice to social and political issues that play a role in their lives.

Video plays a prominent role throughout the Kiboko Project experience. All the workshop projects have been videotaped and have been presented to the counterpart groups in other countries. Video is also used as a creative tool for workshop participants to express their ideas and document their environments.

Exhibitions enable participants to establish communication with audiences in other countries, breaking down preconceptions about other cultures. They take place in community centers, schools, galleries, and other venues, and are viewed by workshop participants as well as by larger audiences from the community
