Hi my name is Elijah Rivera, I’m 17 years old and currently I am a senior a Pelham Lab High School. My family is from Puerto Rico, and they immigrated to America two generations ago. I plan on going to Mercy College for the upcoming fall semester and I will be studying Veterinary Technology. Ever since I was a little kid I have always loved animals and I have passionately studied them, and I am so excited to turn that into my career. When I have free time, I like to play sports with my friends (Basketball, Football, etc…), play video games, and relax at home. I am very passionate about science and love to learn new things, so I am really excited to hear and learn about how you guys (in Kenya) live and learn compared to us.
Here in New York it’s very crowded which means a huge diversity of races, beliefs and cultures interact and mingle with our everyday lives. One of my favourite things about living with all these different cultures is the food, which is so diverse, there’s always something new to try. One of the main places people go to eat in the city are small shops called Deli’s which sell snacks and breakfast sandwiches. My favourite thing to get from a deli is a Bacon Egg and Cheese sandwich on a Bread Roll. I also love dishes from Puerto Rico that are brought over from the island to New York. One of which is a dish called a Pastelito, it’s a dish with ground beef and cheese wrapped in a fried bread shell. I can’t wait to hear back from you guys, get back as soon as you can, Thanks!
