“In the morning I go to look after our cattle, and in the afternoon I come to work in the quarries. I look after my parents’ cattle – seven cows. I started working in the quarries a long time ago – we needed money for school fees. Sometimes I get pain in the muscles, and sometimes in my kidneys when I sit. My chest hurts most times because of the dust. I get 65 KSH (1 USD) per wheelbarrow of stones. I have five siblings, and I am the first born. I don’t feel good when my siblings can go to school and I can’t. My parents promised I would go to school, but I am still breaking stones.”
